Perjalanan After The Burial dalam perilisan album kelimanya “DIG DEEP” pada 19 Februari 2016, telah menyisakan sebuah ironi. Pasalnya salah satu pendiri sekaligus gitaris band metalcore asal Minnesota menulis surat pegundurkan diri pada 25 Juni 2015. Ia mengalami paranoia, ia merasa seluruh hidupnya akan dihancurkan oleh orang-orang sekitar, termasuk saat bersama anggota band dan label yang menaungi, Summeria Records.
After the Burial merespon surat tersebut, dan mereka juga mengkonfirmasi bahwa Justin berada dibawah tekanan mental yang sangat berat dan meminta kepada seluruh fans untuk memotivasi selama rehab.
Pada tanggal 20 Juli 2015 dimalam hari, Justin Lowe menghilang, dan upaya pencarian telah dilakukan dengan melapor ke pihak berwajib. Nahas, Lowe ditemukan tewas oleh pejalan kaki pada tanggal 21 Juli 2015, tepat di bawah jembatan Soo High Line Bridge, sementara mobilnya ditemukan di sisi jembatan wilayan Minnesota. Pihak penyidik menyatakan bahwa kematiannya adalah jatuh dari atas jembatan. Namun sampai saat ini belum dipastikan, apakah bunuh diri atau sebab lain.
Salah satu lagu yang juga dijadikan single pertama “Lost In The Static” dalam album terbaru After The Burial “Dig Deep” menggambarkan sebuah penderitaan. Dimulai dengan lirik :
