No Devotion, band yang terbilang baru, dibentuk tahun 2014 tapi semua personelnya adalah musisi yang telah lama berkancah di dunia musik rock internasional. Band ini kombinasi Wales dan USA.
Kalian pasti tahu band Lost Prophets, kan? Right, band tadi udah bubar gara-gara si vokalisnya Ian Watkins tersandung kasus pelecehan seksual terhadap anak-anak, wah emang parah. Dan tak lama setelah bubar, personel lainnya, Lee Gaze (lead guitar), Mike Lewis (guitar), Jamie Oliver (keyboard), dan Stuart Richardson (bass) membentuk band No Devotion. Sementara posisi vokal diisi oleh mantan vokalis band Thursday, Geoff Rickly. Sedangkan Luke Johnson (drummer) hengkang di tahun 2015 dan digantikan Philip Jenkins (Kids in Glass Houses).
Berbeda dengan Lostprophets dengan hardcore punknya, No Devotion lebih mengusung music futuristic rock / psychedelic pop seperti The Verve, Muse, dan Angel And Airwaves. Influences : The Cure, Joy Division, dan New Order
Debut album “Permenence” terispirasi dari narasi dan visualisasi sebuah film dan novel.
“Film[s and] Novels. I think music is always aching for two things: narrative and visual pacing. The narrative is the job of a good singer or a truly visionary producer. The visual is often overlooked. That’s why our album is so design heavy” – kata Rickly
