Avenged Sevenfold’s former drummer, Arin Ilejay recounted when he received a phone call from the band. Instantly he felt very shocked and fears.
Confirmed his sacking last year, although the move has been planned since 2014, the band reasoned that the part ways in different directions. The position of the drum was replaced by Brooks Wackerman.
When interviewed by Rolling Stone, he stated that it was shocked and frightened when Synyster Gates called him by phone about the end of his carrer with Avenged Sevenfold. Arin in mind, he felt confused how to provide for the family while his wife pregnant.
“I was totally shocked and scared out of my mind when Synyster Gates called to let me go. I was like, ‘Oh my God – my wife is about to have a baby. How am I going to support my family now?” kata Arin
The news of the Arin got fired known by frontman Islander, Mikey Carvajal. Then he invited Arin to join his band.
Speaking further, the 28-year-old drummer realize that joining together Islander will have the opportunity to write a song and build something. Become Avenged Sevenfold personnel did not have much choice, being part of the band but not considered.
“I realised if I joined Islander I’d have an opportunity to help write songs and build something – instead of being on the inside, but at the same time really being on the outside, the way I was with Avenged.”
Arin is the drummer of Islander now, and they have released a music video for a song called “Darkness”. The song is the first single of the album “Power Under Control”.

Two years ago, Arin saw Islander current performance along Fiedly (KORN’s bassist) in a festival in the USA. He was immediately attracted to the band. According to him, one of the songs “Counteract” made him want to play as a drummer Islander.
“I watched their set and instantly fell in love,” kata Arin “The song Counteract especially blew my mind. I was like, ‘Dude, I wish I could sit in on the drums just for that song!’”
Carvajal previously jokes to call Arin as Islander’s drummer. But ultimately, they really serious to recruit.
“Finally I called him and I wasn’t joking at all,” kata Carvajal “I said, ‘You have to come play with us.’”
Islander will released a new album titiled “Power Under Control” on August 5, 2016, while Avenged Sevenfold A7X is working on a seventh album in the studio.
