The Vines tengah persiapkan album ketujuh mereka, namun belum diketahui title untuk album ini. Yang pasti, band indie rock asal Australia ini telah merilis single “In Miracle Land” (April 2016).

Musik yang dimainkan berbeda dengan musik rock kebanyakan, The Vines merekombinasikan menjadi sebuah musik yang unik, modern musik dengan style rock ala The Beatles dipadukan dengan Nirvana.

Sebelum nama The Vines, band ini bernama The Rishikesh yang terbentuk di Sindney tahun 1994. Saat itu vokalis dan gitaris Craig Nicholls dan mantan bassist Patrick Matthews merupakan karyawan McDonald, dan memilih drummer David Olliffe untuk memulai ngeband. Nama Rishikesh sendiri merupakan ide dari David, terinspirasi dari sebuah nama kota di India ketika idola mereka The Beatles saat mengunjungi tempat itu di tahun 1968. Karena kurang cocok dan sering terjadi salah tulis “Rishi Chasms”, akhirnya Craig mengganti nama “The Vines” sampai saat ini.
Saat ini hanya Craig Nicholls yang bertahan, dua anggota baru Tim John (bass) dan Lachlan West (drum) gabung mulai tahun 2012.

British Press pernah menuliskan bahwa The Vines “the second coming of Nirvana”. Dengan musik grunge mengingatkan scene yang dimainkan Kurt Cobain di Seattle 1991.
Nicholls’ erratic on-stage behaviour and raw vocals drew comparisons between him and Kurt Cobain. Highly Evolved became a huge success and their accompanying live shows in the early years were praised as “electrifying” and “sensational”
